Northside Christian
Preschool's Program

We value the importance of a well-balanced learning environment. We believe children learn best through modeled behavior, direct instruction, and play. It is through cooperative learning and play that children can practice both social and academic skills taught and reinforced by quality teachers.

3-Year-Old Class

Our 3-year-old class focuses on social-emotional skills necessary for children to be successful in the classroom, at home, in church, and in their communities. Our students will learn the importance of living a life modeled after Jesus through lessons on the Fruit of the Spirit and the Life of Christ.

Our 3-year-olds will also gain understanding of langauge arts through speaking, listening, phonics, and reading. We will introduce early mathematical concepts, such as patterning, number sense, colors, and shapes. Further program offerings are:

  • Biblical Lessons

  • Godly Character

  • Communication Skills

  • Fine & Gross Motor Skills

  • Arts & Crafts

  • Music

  • Play

4-Year-Old Class

Our 4-year-old class prepares each child to enter elementary school, not only with kindergarten readiness skills, but also through learning Christ-centered strategies necessary to live a life that shines for Jesus. Our students learn Biblical truths they can apply at home and in their future learning environments.

Our 4-year-old class will prepare for kindergarten by developing knowledge in language arts through letter recognition, phonics, reading and writing, plus participation in read-aloud books. We will also develop mathematical skills by learning concepts of addition, comparing quantities, geometry, and number sense/recognition. Further program offerings are:

  • Biblical Lessons

  • Godly Character

  • Social Development

  • Personal & Motor Skills

  • Science & Creativity

  • Arts & Crafts

  • Music

  • Play

Philosophy of Education

At Northside Christian Preschool, our philosophy of education is to train up children in the Lord, through a focus on spiritual truths and Biblical foundations (Proverbs 22:6). Two of those truths include that marriage is between one biological man and one biological woman and that life is sacred, beginning at conception.

At Northside Christian Preschool, we know that children flourish best when a firm foundation is set in their early childhood years. Children will grow to shine their own lights when taught Bible stories, the Fruit of the Spirit, and Biblical social interaction skills.

We value the importance of a well-balanced learning environment. We believe children learn best through modeled behavior, direct instruction, and play. It is through working and playing together that children can practice both social and academic skills taught and reinforced by quality teachers.

Additional Programs

In addition to our morning classes, Northside Christian Preschool offers a wrap-around program and before and after care at an additional cost.

Wrap-Around

Our wrap-around program has a midday four-hour schedule. The schedule includes lunch, naptime, enrichment activities, outdoor time, and snack. During the wrap-around enrichment activities, children will be able to participate in additional crafts and science activities related to the current topic, seasonal lessons, and further play time.

Before Care

Our hour-long before care is focused on preparing the students for their morning classes with calming music and activities, such as books, puzzles, creative expression, and fine motor skills.

After Care

Our after care is offered to preschool students who are enrolled in both the morning and the wrap-around programs. Students may be signed out at any time during the three hours. Our after care is focused on allowing students to unwind from their busy days. Students will have relaxing play time with peers, access to books read aloud, and additional playground time.

Curriculum

Northside Christian Preschool uses the Abeka preschool curriculum, which is an academic resource based on Biblical values. “Abeka’s preschool curriculum features a traditional approach to teaching and learning, cross-subject integration, spiral review, and plenty of hands-on activities” (Abeka, https://www.abeka.com/preschool/ ). Each day will be filled with preplanned and prepared appropriate activities that may be just a bit challenging but achievable for each student. Play is part of the academic process. “Play contributes positively to child development in all of the learning domains” (Florida Department of Children and Families, 2019).
