Northside Christian Preschool

Description: Northside Christian Preschool is designed for children ages 3 – 5 years (non-kindergarten age) and fully potty-trained by their first day of school. We offer a ten-month program from August through May. We are certified providers with the Early Learning Coalition (ELC) of Polk County for Florida’s Voluntary Prekindergarten (VPK).

Objectives: Northside Christian Preschool is seeking employees for the following positions. Please know the expectations and responsibilities listed for the jobs are an overview. Please request the portion of Northside Christian Preschool’s personnel handbook titled “job descriptions” if you are interested in learning more about each job.

Program Hours: We offer a ten-month program from August through May. Northside Christian Preschool is operational from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Specifically, within our operating hours:

● Half Day and VPK: 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.

● Full Day with VPK: 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Program Vision and Mission: Northside Christian Preschool’s primary purpose is to provide a quality Christian learning and development opportunity for preschool children, ages 3-5 (non-kindergarten). We want children to know that Jesus loves them and died for them – and that He wants them to live a fulfilled life devoted to Christ and His kingdom (John 3:16).

Our mission at Northside Christian Preschool is to provide a Christ-centered learning environment for preschool-aged children to grow through play, learning experiences, and academic excellence.

Northside Christian Preschool, Teacher:

Job Title: Teacher

Job Hours: part time;

Ages Serviced: 3- and -4-year-olds (no more than 15 total students)

General Description: Teachers are responsible for the care and education of a group of children. Teachers plan and implement the curriculum, assess the needs of each individual child, and work with families to promote healthy development. Teachers are responsible to provide a Christ-centered learning environment in their classrooms. Teachers report directly to the preschool director.

Essential Functions: Teachers must have sufficient mobility and strength to be able to lift a 40-pound child and/or be able to quickly reach an endangered or hurt child at a distance of 60 feet in the event of an emergency. Teachers must be able to speak fluent English. Teachers must have vision and hearing adequate to maintain visual and/or auditory contact with the children at all times.

Responsibilities include:

● Supervising children at all times

● Model behavior expectations, and the Fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 2:22-23).

● Maintain integrity and Christ-like behavior in conduct (Proverbs 16).

● Plan and implement curriculum, integrating preschool benchmarks of the Florida Early Learning and Development Standards

● Consistently use open-ended questions and open-ended discussions with children

● Build and maintain children’s anecdotal records, portfolios, and developmental forms in order to prepare for parent/teacher conferences

● Meet with the teaching team at least weekly to plan curriculum and to discuss children’s growth, development, and individual needs

● Participate in the School Advisory Board (SAB)

Qualifications:

● A teacher must be at least 18 years of age.

● All teachers must have completed the DCF 40 clock-hour "Child Care Facility Training Requirements, Part I and II" (and be able to provide his/her DCF Transcript).

● Ability to pass a Level 2 Background Screening

● Verification of previous childcare work experience

Additional Expectations:

● Attend orientations, staff meetings, curriculum-planning meetings, and in-service training provided at Northside Christian Preschool.

● Attend all family programs and parent orientations.
